- Trevino-Uribe_Rancho abstract "The Treviño-Uribe Rancho is a fortified home in the small town of San Ignacio, Texas, also known as San Ygnacio.The small community of San Ygnacio was settled in 1830. The San Ygnacio Historic District includes Spanish and Mexican-influenced buildings that date from this earliest period of settlement up to the late 19th century. The majority of the buildings in the town are masonry, constructed of massive blocks of sandstone surfaced with stucco. The buildings are generally rectangular with flat roofs. Window and door openings have decorative surrounds, and many have prominent carved cornices.Jesus Treviño, founder of San Ygnacio, built this home in 1830, safeguarding family and neighbors here during frequent Indian raids. The house became known as Fort Treviño. Later Blas Maria Uribe, his son-in-law, built the loopholed fort and in 1851 had a native stone made into a polished sundial and set into the north wall of the fort.".
