- Urban_Green_Energy abstract "UGE (Urban Green Energy) is a worldwide renewable energy solutions provider headquartered in New York City. UGE has installations in nearly 80 countries worldwide, and on every continent including Antarctica, and operates out of four cities (NYC, Beijing, Barcelona, and Mumbai). UGE’s solutions range from remote site assessments, its patent-pending vertical axis wind turbines, solar panels, implementation, and monitoring. Its wind/solar hybrid solutions are widely used in telecoms sites and commercial/government locations. UGE announced in August 2013 that it had raised $20M from Tamra-Tacoma Capital Partners, a New York-based alternative investment firm, for a project finance fund to deploy UGE's unique wind/solar technology for telecom companies looking to reduce energy expenses.UGE’s wind turbines are a type of Darrieus vertical axis wind turbine. UGE’s turbines range in size from 200W to 10 kW rated power output and are suited to a large variety of applications. The company currently has patents pending on many of its designs. All turbines in UGE’S range are similar in their appearance, each with three blades even spaced about the axis of rotation. The turbine blades have an aerofoil profile that allows the turbines to harness both lift and drag forces to power the turbine. Consequently UGE’s turbines are self-starting at low wind speeds. The turbine blades have a helical design which serves to produce steady torque in steady winds. A fiberglass, carbon and epoxy composite is used to produce strong and lightweight blades. Keeping the turbines lightweight allows the turbines to capitalize on the energy in wind gusts. The Vacuum infused resin composite manufacture technique is employed to produce consistent and reliable turbine. A dual axis is used on the turbines, where one axis provides a means of rotation while the other carries the majority of the load. The dual axis provides a quiet more stable turbine.UGE’s turbines are also integrated in into some unique products that serve the community. These include the SANYA streetlight series and the SANYA Skypump. The SANYA streetlight series provide off-grid outdoor lighting for roads and paths powered by UGE turbines and/or PV solar panels. The SANYA Skypump is a UGE product that has teamed up with GE's electric car charging station technology. Powering the electric car from renewable wind energy make it a truly green solution.UGE also develops other clean technology such as the SeamlessGrid to supplement their renewable energy solutions such as storage devices, remote monitoring, and hybrid inverters.".
