- Whiteinch_Railway abstract "The Whiteinch Railway is a rail line located in Glasgow, Scotland. The railway opened in 1874 along with Stobcross Railway and was built to service a shipyard & sawmill at Whiteinch. A privately owned tramway connection across the Dumbarton Road gave access to the mill, whilst the line itself had an east-facing connection to the Stobcross Railway at Whiteinch Junction. Parliamentary approval for the branch was granted in July 1872 and construction took two years, with goods traffic commencing on 29 October 1874. Operated from the outset by the North British Railway, it was subsequently bought out by that company in 1891. Passenger services to a terminus at Victoria Park began in 1897, running via the station at Jordanhill - the track layout in the area was also altered at that time, with a west to north curve laid in and a new connection through Jordanhill station replacing the original line.".
