- catalog description "The Botanical Museum was established in 1878 under the direction of George Lincoln Goodale. The Collections were designed to illustrate the principle systematic, biological and economic relations of plants, and include the Ware Collection of glass models of flowers, prepared by the artists Leopold Blaschka and his son Rudolf, who lived in Hosterwitz, a suburb of Dresden, Germany. This collection was given to Harvard University by Elizabeth C. Ware and her daughter Miss Mary Lee Ware as a memorial to Charles Eliot Ware (A.B.1834). Oakes Ames was appointed curator of the Museum in 1923.".
