In 1895 Thompson published The Unity of Fichte's Doctrine of Knowledge. She was the daughter of William A. and Harriot Boynton Thompson, who lived in Iowa in the 1840s and 1850s; her mother later worked at the Boston Children's Friend Society and ran a boarding house for schoolteachers.".
