Gazette until 1949, when she decided to pursue her interest in flying. She and her husband, Frederick Hiller, had founded the Barre Hiller Airport in 1948. A charter pilot, she was one of few women in the U.S. to have a glider license; she also qualified as an instructor in gliders and seaplanes. Hiller owned and managed the airport, served as governor of the "Ninety-Nines", a woman pilots' association, and was president of the Massachusetts Aviation Trades.".
