An active member of the Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Barron campaigned for the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment in Massachusetts, and in 1977 was elected chair of the Massachusetts Coordinating Committee for the National Observance of International Women's Year. She retired from the federal government in 1985.".
