- catalog description "Born in Berlin, Germany, in 1921, Loeser emigrated to England in 1937, where she lived until 1945, serving as secretary and assistant to the headmistress of Stoatley Rough School, a boarding school for refugee children, and as coordinator of youth clubs in London. She was later an interpreter for the U.S. Army and worked with displaced persons for the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration in Bavaria. She and her husband Hans moved to Cambridge, Mass., in 1947 where he attended Harvard Law School. They had three children. The author of Women, Work and Volunteering (1974), Loeser served as codirector of the Civic Center and Clearing House in Boston (Mass.) a counseling and placement agency for volunteers. In 1975 she initiated Project Re-entry, a career internship program for women returning to work that has served as a national model. Loeser has served on the boards of the Society of Arts and Crafts and United Way of Massachusetts Bay.".
