- catalog abstract "The study was designed to examine individual preferences in automobile ownership and residences at two levels: first, with existing preferences, second, with the stability of preferences over time and the reasons for them. The study is comprised of two waves of interviews. The universe consists of families living in separate dwelling units in metropolitan areas with a population of 50,000 or more, exclusive of the New York metropolitan area. All families living in each dwelling unit that fell within the sample were interviewed. In one-half of the families the head was designated as respondent, and the spouse of the head in the other. Data for the two waves of interviews are in separate datasets, each containing three files with different units of analysis. For the one wave of interviews, the first file has data for the family units interviewed, the second file has the journey to work as the unit of analysis with a total of l,064, the third file contains information on 4,228 trips. The second dataset also contains these same units of analysis.".
