- catalog abstract "The Amalgam survey contains questions from several different clients on a wide variety of subjects. A large portion of the interview concerns political and social attitudes, political party preference, and political and social participation. Another section deals with the importance of various aspects of an individual's life and how he or she relates to certain aspects of today's society. In addition, there are questions concerning attitudes toward retirement and feelings about preparing for death. Still another topic concerns family relationships, in particular, an inquiry into the relationship between brothers. Finally, demographic data on the respondent and family are obtained. A methodological experiment is also contained in the study to determine the effects of the instrument and the coders on the survey results. This study is based on a national probability sample of the adult population over 18 years of age.".
