• catalog abstract "The data and findings presented in this study represent the exploratory phase of a larger research project on the patterns of political and associational participation of students of two universities in Milan. The exploratory study consists of 286 interviews (respondents) and has 3 cards of data per respondent with a total of 198 variables. The total of 1,307 law students at the State University of Milan in April 1966 was stratified in accordance with two major variables, (1) sex (two levels) and (2) time spent in law school (three levels) so that six cells were produced. 300 respondents were randomly selected of which 286 completed their interviews. The questionnaire used is structured around various sets of questions. The first set probes the respondents on the compositon, economic conditions, and place of origin of their parents' family. A second larger set of questions focuses on the respondents as students, their performance in the law school, possible changes of field of study, activities at the university other than studying, participation in political and associational groups at the university and outside. Thirdly, the respondents are asked about their views of Italian and foreign political figures, on how they keep informed on political events, and on politics within the university. Fourthly, the respondents are probed on their career goals and on their perspectives on the courts and their interpretation of the law. Finally, a set of questions attempts to capture the personalities of the respondents vis-a-vis society, in terms of their religious belief, relationships with family and friends, and leisure activities.".
