- catalog abstract "The study explores in detail the respondents' positions as personnel managers. Variables ascertain the industry or service in which they work, the number of people they manage, a full definition of their present position and the responsibilities which it entails, and their past experience in personnel work. The respondents' positions within their company are examined, as are the interaction which they have with various other positions and departments within the company. A major part of the study investigates company relations with the workers' union. Variables probe personnel's interaction with the unions, degree of union participation in certain aspects of company management, and help which the union has for its members. In addition to specific questions about workers in the respondents' companies, the study asks the respondents to rate the average Chilean worker on a variety of scales. The study was conducted in 1963 in three cities in Chile: Santiago, Concepcion, and Valparaiso.".
