Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minn., she attended Stanford University before transferring to Barnard College, where she graduated in 1960. In June of that year she married Roland Andre Delattre, a graduate student at Yale University working on his Ph.D. in Christian ethics. They lived in Oxford, Ohio (1963-1970); Missoula, Mont. (1970-1971); Knoxville, Tenn. (1971-1973); and Minneapolis, Minn. (1974- ). Over the years Delattre taught elementary school and while at the University of Tennesee completed a graduate degree in dance. The couple had two children, Andre Pierre and Eric Lynn; they were divorced in 1983. She is the author, with Susan O'Halloran, of The Woman Who Lost Her Heart: A Tale of Reawakening (1992) and The Woman Who Found Her Voice: A Tale of Transforming (1997).".
