- catalog abstract "This book analyses the European Parliament's relations with the national parliaments of the European Union (EU), in terms of political party interactions, institutional arrangements and two-way influence. Each of the twelve chapters on the member-states of the European Union covers three main themes: the links between party-political activity at the European and national levels; the degree of cooperation between the national and the European parliaments; and the extent to which the national legislature is influenced by the European Parliament's resolutions or other communications. These national chapters, each by an expert from the country concerned, bring out the differences between various groups of EU member-states: in particular between the six original members, where some national parliaments (especially those of Belgium and Germany) have by now established good working relations with the European Parliament and its members, and on the other hand the new member-states which joined later, where some national parliaments (especially these of the UK and Denmark) remain somewhat suspicious of the European Parliament.".
