This group made the longest infantry march in history, consisting of 2,000 miles from Council Bluffs, Iowa to San Diego, California (March 20, 1846 - January 29, 1847). Along with 500 men, there were 16 families, including about 50 children and dependents. No Mormon was killed in battle, but two died enroute.".
