Over a fifty-year period, she used her resources to gain all of the advantages that money could buy; her most ambitious project was the creation of Rose Terrace, a Louis XVI-style house built in the early 1930s on the shores of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe Farms outside of Detroit. Its focal point was the Music Room, for which Mrs. Dodge assembled one. Of the most distinguished and extensive groups of eighteenth-century French decorative arts in America. This collection was bequeathed to The Detroit Institute of Arts in 1970, later augmented by additional works acquired at auction and by gift.
