Joseph and Frances were taken to the Home for Jewish Children, an orphanage in Dorchester, Mass., run by Associated Jewish Philanthropies. Ruth went to live with an aunt. Pass attended Oliver W. Holmes School and Dorchester High School for Girls before graduating from Radcliffe College (A.B. 1930) and Simmons College (M.S. 1954).".
