The endowment that supported the home was eventually used to create the William Ellery Channing Professorship at Harvard Medical School and funded the Channing Laboratory, now a multidisciplinary research division of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School investigating bacteriology, chronic disease epidemiology and virology.".
