Series VI, U.S. government, 1977-1981, includes papers about the governmental transitions in 1977 and 1981, history of various consumer initiatives during the Carter Administration, and a large body of papers concerning lobbying and legislation for a proposed Cabinet-level consumer agency. Series VIII, Writings by Esther Peterson, contains correspondence with publishers and editors, drafts, and published articles. Included are two book drafts that were apparently never published. Series IX, Speeches, testimony, and related material, contains correspondence, notes, drafts, etc., for speeches given by Peterson before a variety of organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Topics covered include labor issues, politics, education, civil rights, status of women, social welfare, and consumer issues. Congressional testimony is also included. Series X, Photographs, are grouped topically and chronologically as received. Many are unidentified.".

(1970-1977), and representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Council for the International Organization of Consumers Unions (1983-1993).
