- catalog description "Feminist and historian Margaret R. Hunt was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the eldest child of Vilma R. Dalton-Webb Hunt and Edward Eyre Hunt. She studied music at Pennsylvania State University (1970-1972) and Radcliffe College (A.B. 1976). While at Radcliffe she was a member of the Radcliffe Union of Students and the Radcliffe Women's Center Collective, and advocated establishment of a women's studies concentration at Harvard. She was also a member of the Radcliffe Crew, active in gay and lesbian groups (including Radcliffe Lesbians), and a volunteer at Transition House, a battered women's shelter. After graduating from Harvard Divinity School (M.T.S. 1978), she worked in Juneau, Alaska, for the Women in Transition Program, an economic development project. In 1986 she received her doctorate in history from New York University, and began teaching at Amherst College where she is now a full professor.".
