- catalog description "Dunbar Laboratory, built in 1918, was located at 48 Oxford Street and 30 Hammond Street. Devoted to cryogenic research, Dunbar Laboratory was named in memory of Atherton Dunbar, a scientist who was killed in an explosion at Jefferson Physical Laboratory in 1922. Dunbar was originally a remodelled building in the rear of the Gordon McKay Engineering Laboratory and consisted of offices, a chemical laboratory, and a room equipped to handle low temperature work. From the late 1950s the building was used forresearch in nuclear medicine.".
