Distributedobjecttechnologies–asexempli?edbyCORBAandtheCORBA Services,COM+,EJB,andtheJ2EE–areincreasinglybeingadoptedbyvarious enterprisesasafundamentaltechnologyfortheirITinfrastructures. Asacon- quence,extensiveindustrypracticeofusingthetechnologiesisbeinggained. At thesametime,thetechnologiescontinuetoadvanceandnewfunctionalityand servicescontinuetobeintroduced. Inordertousetheexistingandemergingfunctionsofdistributedobjectte- nologiese?ectively,andtobettermeettoday’sdemandingbusinessandcomp- ingrequirements,advancesinsoftwareengineeringmethodsandtechniquesfor distributedobjectsarestronglyneeded. Softwareengineeringfordistributed- jectsistheresearchareathatprovidessolutionsofprovenpracticeforissuesand problemsthatareuniquetosystemsemployingdistributedobjecttechnologies. EDOis the premierworkshopthatbringstogetherthe researchandpractice communityofsoftwareengineeringfordistributedobjects.
