- catalog description "George Plummer Howe graduated from Harvard College with an AB in 1900, and an MD from the Harvard Medical School in 1904. He was a surgical house officer at Boston City Hospital, and then a surgeon with the Anglo-American Arctic Expedition in Alaska. He later practiced medicine in Lawrence, MA and at the Boston City and Carney hospitals. He also organized and went on an expedition to the Yucatan in 1911. In May of 1917 he joined the American Medical Reserve Corps and served with the British forces as a medical officer in the Royal Fusiliers and was killed in action on September 28, 1917.".
