- catalog description "John Jenyns, sr. is described as being "the only surviving feoffee in trust of the charity of Doctor Thomas Triplett late one of the prebends of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter in Westminster[i.e. Westminster Abbey]." Triplett, the onetime Rector of Washington and later a Sub-Dean of the Abbey, established his charity to support the education of children of Washington in Northumberland. It is unclear whether the lands in this deed were part of the charitable trust Jenyns was responsible for or part of Triplett's benefice from Westminster Abbey though one of the assignees, Charles Battely, served as receiver-general of Westminster Abbey. Hailes Abbey was founded in 1246 for the Cistercians by the Earl of Cornwall and surrendered to the crown in 1539; it was a noted site of pilgrimages in the Middle Ages.".
