- 2007641041 abstract "Focuses on papers related to World War II era newsreels of this major pioneer in the newsreel industry. While the war and many of the political and military leaders associated with it dominated the news reported during this period, news on the American home front, including sports and fashion, is also well documented in this collection. Papers are mainly cameramen's dope sheets (detailed notes of stories filmed), continuity sheets (synopses of newsreels distributed to theaters), and turnovers (one sentence descriptions of each story filmed). Collection also contains other paper materials including telegrams, speeches, photographs, programs, and memoranda that provide details of the newsreels created by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. Although the entire Fox Movietone newsreel collection spans 1916-1963, these materials document the World War II period, beginning with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and ending with the early years of Allied occupation of Germany and Japan.".
